Actually pretty much one landmass (depends on tide level) they are referred to separately because their topography makes them appear to be two islands.

These beautiful islands are part of the Reserva Ecologica Islas de Mazatlan -- an ecological reserve known worldwide -- and protected from development, as is their neighbor directly to the north, Bird Island / Isla de Pajaros.




Designated Natural Reserve in 1991, Deer Island and Goat Island are two of the more pristine places that can be accessed on a Mazatlan day trip.

Deer Island / Isla de Venados is the central and highest of the three islands visible from Mazatlan beaches, with its appendage, Goat Island / Isla de Chivos to its left (south). Both islands have warm calm waters are ideal for snorkeling and observing the untouched beauty of this spectacular ecosystem.
