Bento is a takeout boxed meal originally from Japan -- think deluxe lunch box. The word Bento is derived from a Southern Song Dynasty slang term that meant "convenient" or "convenience", and represents one of the earliest iterations of what we now think of as Fast Food.
Bento-style meals are common throughout East Asia, including in Korea, and Mazatlan now has a delicious Bento-style restaurant owned and managed by a Korean-American!
The portions at Bento Grill are both large and delicious and feature beef, pork, short ribs or chicken accompanied by sides of miso soup, salad, rice and fried shrimp.
Bento Grill is open from 12pm to 10pm Tuesday through Sunday. They do not presently sell alcohol, but diners are welcome to bring their own!
